Bloopers

You may have found the photo I had in my original post about having a photographer on hand to take our pictures a little strange.

There was a story behind that.

For the VIP Evening at Michaels, there were lots of Michaels employees on hand — employees from the Lasalle store and from the head office in Dallas, Texas.

Well, at some point, a bunch of employees wanted to get their picture taken as a group. One sat in the chair, some sat around and the rest stood around or sat in front of the chair. Someone reached out her arm behind her and tore the white paper backdrop. That’s why you see ripped paper in my original photo.

Below are the blooper photos I didn’t include in my original post.

Michaels VIP Evening

It was fun to be considered a media VIP for a couple of hours!!! As a blogger, I was invited to Michaels VIP Evening tonight, the night before the official opening of the 7 stores in Québec tomorrow morning. They rolled out the red carpet for us at the Lasalle store and we had a wonderful time looking around and talking to instructors and other Michaels employees.

I brought my scrappy sister Peggy and we were treated to hor d’oeuvres and wine, demonstrations and picture taking.

We were only a small group — maybe 40 (not including the many Michaels employees on hand), but we ran into two cropping buddies.

There were 5 demonstration areas throughout the store and activities for children in the classroom.

We met a number of Michaels executives, the three people who did most of the legwork to set up Michaels Québec from Dallas, Texas and Michaels creative ambassador for Québec, Micheline Petit.

But most importantly, we got to have a good look at the store.

The store is absolutely beautiful. Everything is brand new, spacious, and filled to capacity with the most wonderful products. We were not allowed to buy anything tonight. We will be back there first thing tomorrow morning for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and official opening, and to be sure we are among the first in the store to take advantage of the great special they will have, including Cricut cartridges at “great prices” (they wouldn’t tell us how great though).

Here are some pictures from the VIP Evening.

Lots ‘n lots of products … actually, 35,000 inventory items …

This was a scrapbooking demonstration. She was demonstrating an easel card.

Lots of Cricut cartridges and Cuttlebug folders.

A professional photographer was on hand to take souvenir photos for us.

The official part of the evening was about to begin.
